Bonkers

As I'm only working part time at the moment it's been my mission to find free things to do in Sydney. The museum of Contemporary Modern Art is free and so was the Yayoi Kusama exhibition!

For those of you that don't know - Kusama's paintings, collages, soft sculptures, performance art and environmental installations all share an obsession with repetition, pattern, and accumulation. This means a lot of polka dots!
"No Photos Allowed-" whoops...

These pictures (below) were drawn on huge canvases with felt tip pens - very cool when you see them close up..
Then we got closed in to a room with water all around us and coloured lights and mirrors hanging from the ceiling... it was pretty amazing.
Once again, no photographs allowed....whoops..

I found this photo on the internet to give you a better idea of how the pieces look in real life... by the end we were in love with polka dots and all things repetitive.

To finish the day off we walked over to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to check out The Archibald Prize portrait exhibition. No dots or cameras allowed and a totally different experience but we felt truly cultural by the end of it.
Back to real life tomorrow and a shopping trip to Aldi again. There's only so much culture a girl can take in a week...
